This month our featured REALTOR® is not one but two team members, Lonn and Katie Lineker. It’s our first spotlight featuring a duo. Read on to learn more about this caring couple.
Lonn Leads the Way, Katie Joins the Fun
In 2013, Lonn was working in commercial property maintenance and facility management. He was encouraged to get his real estate license. So, he decided to sell commercial real estate.
But being an avid outdoorsman in his spare time, he found himself drawn to land and home sales. After a few years in the commercial real estate industry, he made the switch to selling recreational property and land sales.
After he sold his first residence, Katie became intrigued with residential real estate. She says, “As I witnessed Lonn’s first residential transaction, I thought it looked like so much fun. And I knew I wanted to sell real estate too!” At the time, Katie was a stay-at-home-mom for three years. But with her self-starting determination, she got her real estate license. She just knew that it was a great career fit for her family and would give her the work/life balance that she needed.
The Challenges and the Wins
Real estate is often a tricky business because things change so fast - from the market, to inventory, to the variation of personalities of clients an agent works with.
Lonn finds his biggest challenge is that each transaction is unique, never finding himself in the same situation twice. This forces him to be an expert problem solver, thinking quickly and creatively. He says, “It’s challenging to navigate unpredictable circumstances with many personality types. I overcome this challenge by diligently seeking advice from my fellow professionals.”
While Lonn has the wisdom to consult other agents for workable solutions, Katie tackles her biggest business challenge by remaining true to who she is.
“My biggest challenge is knowing how to market myself effectively to stand out from other agents. I don’t care to be the center of attention. But I do genuinely care about people and the details that are involved in buying or selling property,” she says. She adds she has realized that being an active listener and just being herself are helpful and fruitful attributes when building a successful business.
Joining Forces With Compass Realty Group
The Linekers recently joined Compass Realty Group and expanded the company’s reach to the Osceola area. Lonn was drawn to the company because he wanted to be part of a local community brokerage that heavily encourages local involvement by networking as a well-known trusted real estate advisor.
With a specialty of dealing with the purchasing and selling of recreational property and land sales, Lonn knows that a major mission of Compass is to guide clients to where they want to go. He helps clients achieve their goals, whether it’s through homes, cabins, or hunting land.
Katie also enjoys being a part of Compass, as she’s part of a team who strives for personal connection. It brings her great joy to know people on a personal level and to learn what attracts her clients to the property that feels like home to them. She enjoys guiding people through the significant journey of home ownership and what that means for their lives.
Her favorite kind of clients to work with are first time home buyers or sellers because it can be such an important life event. “It will set the stage for the future, so I consider it very important to support my clients through each step of the process,” she says.
A Team of Two, but Individual People
Even though this couple has proven to be a terrific team, they each have their own style when it comes to real estate.
Compass owner Alison Blanchard says about the Linekers, “They each have their own personality, of course, and each differs from the other in how they do business. They each bring distinct qualities to the Compass team.”
She emphasizes that Lonn markets his business in a way that is unique and successful in attracting people to him. She adds, “He’s also amazing at organizing details and coming up with out-of-the-box ideas that push the company forward.”
As for Katie, Alison appreciates her calming presence that isn’t pushy, but is a go-getter for her clients. She says about Katie, “It’s fun to watch her realize her amazing talent and capabilities as she pushes herself and continues to gain confidence in her business.”
Alison adds that the fact that the Linekers work at Compass full time tells her they believe in the company’s mission and trust her as the owner. This responsibility isn’t lost on her. This drives Alison every day to be the best in the business, so these agents can be the best for their clients.
What Alison admires about the genuine couple is how they strive to do the best job they can. She says, “When Compass attracts quality agents like Katie and Lonn to our team, I feel like our mission is being moved forward. Yes, we are in real estate. But the real end game is helping others. The Linekers wholeheartedly believe in what we’re trying to do at Compass and we’re so lucky to have them on board as we continue to grow.”
Full Hands, Full Hearts
Lonn and Katie not only keep busy with their real estate business, but they are parents to five children, who are the bright light of their lives. They have made their home for the past six years in Taylors Falls, MN and attend church in Osceola, WI. They love life in a small town community with great local schools.
Living in a border town on the beautiful St. Croix River comes in handy as Katie enjoys hiking the parks and areas in the St. Croix River Valley. She also spends her time reading, enjoys a good cup of coffee, and loves spending time with friends and family.
In his spare time, Lonn is the worship leader at their church in Osceola. He also enjoys cooking, hunting, fishing, camping, and most any activity that gets him to the great outdoors.
